Álvaro is from Caracas, Venezuela. He started skiing when he was 5 years old on his family holidays in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He kept up skiing as a leisure activity for 27 years before deciding to train to become an Alpine Ski Instructor.
Alvaro’s passion for skiing, combined with his drive, knowledge, charisma and happy demeanor fits well with all of our clients. He may be relatively new to the game but he definitively works hard to keep up with the more experienced instructors.
What is your top technical tip?
Not quite a technical tip but, for me, extremely important is TRUST. Trusting your instructor is key. We will never put you in harms way and what we are trying to teach you is always planned out. My clients say they enjoy my lessons because they always feel looked out for.
I love teaching and sharing my passion for this sport. Be it kids, teenagers, adults beginners or experienced skiers every person is unique and figuring out how to reach each one of them is the challenge. I say bring it on! Being from a South American country, where there is no snow or skiing, I go full force every time. There is never such thing as a bad day. Working with Altitude last season was a blast and I cant wait for next season.
